Ask me what's the best thing that I like in watching movies..and, to all honesty; it's those clippings which some films (definitely not all) shows towards the end - the behind the scenes.
.
The stars in their normal selves, how they just crack up and get giggling while trying to deliver a very serious dialogue.....Jackie Chan knocking himselves on the pier of the bridge and falling straight into the water during that mad boat chase. You get what I mean ? I have lost count of the number of times I have watched the making of the movie "The Titanic" in youtube. The very minute thoughts that has gone behind. Even the logo on the cutleries were custom made...how cool !
.
Here, listening to this musical video, just can't help myself from wondering...what at the very first place, would have inspired it's makers to comeup with something so elegant. I've got no clue what she is singing, but from a mere listener's point of view, one thing is clear - It is very much, inspired by spirituality.
.
The most powerful of all buddhist chants "Om-Ma-Ne-Pad-Me-Hum" has been given a very elegant makeover. The tempo has been changed, the slow husky male voices have been replaced by this beautiful angelic voice.
.
The prayerfulness is so very much evident, which if you watch, will see....how respectfully she stands with folded hands, while chanting the six syllables of this magic chant.
.
The only slight disappointment that I had was that I really expected the chants to repeat once again towards the end as a closing note, but it didn’t. The music just fades off as such. Anyways..this is just my review…and truly recommend that my friends do listen to it too. A beautiful redo.
.
And...what does Sona has got to do with Buddhism ? What does this powerful chant symbolize ?
As far a bollywood music is concerned, got to admit.... I am still
stuck with Aashiqui 2.
Tum Hi hoo…..Sun Raha Hai Naa Thuu…..and this! Tu hi ye mujh ko bataa de....Chaahoon main yaa naa.
I can go on and on…and my husband now is literally bugged up listening to the same songsblaring over and over from the kitchen. Poor him....certain things, in his wifie...just wouldn't change ;)
Tu hi ye mujh ko bataa de Chaahoon main yaa naa Apne tu dil ka pataa de Chaahoon main yaa naa
You only tell me, should I love or not, Tell me about your heart, Should I love or not..
Itna bata doon tujh ko Chaahat pe apni mujh ko Yoon to nahi ikhtiyaar Phir bhi yeh sochaa dil ne Ab jo lagaa hoon milne Poochhoon tujhe ek baar
I'll tell you so much, On my love, I don't have so much control,Still the heart thought once, Now that I've begun to meet, I should ask you once...........

The YES/NO in Love. Leaving it entirely up
to the other person to decide.
Alright, its very “man”-ly for HIM to hold
HER hand and take her over..saying ”come! let’s go”.
But…feel, at one point, she can always pull
herself back. He never asked if she wanted it, at the very first place.
Yaa…Naaa ??? Yes…No ????
You give your hand..but..its up to the other to hold or not to hold. But once they too…then hold it tight, and never let go. Coz, it was given to you, and not taken by You. You Hold Tight.
Tu hi ye mujh ko bataa de Chaahoon main yaa naa Apne tu dil ka pataa de Chaahoon main yaa naa
You only tell me, should I love or not, Tell me about your heart, Should I love or not..
After all..thats what the King of Romance
does.
He just shows open his palm for the
heroine . Its her call. Haa …yeah Naaa .
Had few hand notes to prepare, and getting it done... couldn't help but sway a bit in lines to this oldie goldie tune.
It was "this" that was being played at low voice from my PC at work, going on as in a loop, set to repeat , number of times "n"
I am on..Top of the World lookin' ... down on creation...
And the only explanation I can find...
Is the love that I've found ever since you've been around....
Your love's put me at the TOP OF THE WORLD !!!!
The Carpenters
I hadnt listened to it for quite some time; and indeed felt very refreshing.
Kate and Lynn - they do look similar, in these outfits and ofcourse in size, shape and figure...is it not ?
Alright...this guy gets featured on my space every now and then..Mr. Bennet and his Band...atleast on my page. Love the combinations he comes up with...and this one, particularly is "liked". Loved Shwetaz voice, and love the way she sang this mix..but just seriosuly wished, if they could have had a bit more of the "Top of the World"" bit in.
Baby, you're a firework Come on, let your colors burst Make 'em go "Oh, Oh, Oh" You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe
(a bit from the FIREWORKS lyrics by KATY PERRY)
St. Raphael's Church, Thykoodam, Kochi, Kerala.
Born to a very pious mother, church services, daily family
prayers, St. Antony’s novena on Tuesdays… were all a never miss for us as kids.
Staying close to our Parish, we were pushed to go (walk) to church not just on
Sundays, but on Saturdays ..and any other holidays as well. And one of the most
memorable “like’s” of those yesterdays was the Church Festivals.
view of our Thykoodam Parish Church Festival Eve celebrations
In googlemaps..its zoom in as : Asia, India, Kerala, Kochi,
Vyttila, Thykoodam – St. Raphel’s Church - one of the biggest parishes of the Archidiocese of Verapoly. This year, Sunday, the 6th of October 2013, was the Feast of the heavenly patron . Wanted to make this post then, but got late.
Had I been home today..it would have been a great time for all the Christians around the area... getting ready for the grand festive mass...celebrations...
the band set playing the latest bolly/molly/tollywood numbers and yes...devotional hymns too.
I reaaallllly missing those days.....wallah !!!!
Saturday, The eve of the Church Feast have the Holy Services in the evening, followed by the procession, and the best part of it all was the Fireworks, to the very end.
Green to the right….red to the left….didn’t know what they were exactly called….so, we named them rockets, parachutes…and umbrellas !!! We would be there...few giggly girlies... right in front of the crowd to watch the colourful sparkles that lit up the sky….the loud booms , bangs…..
The fireworks !!!
Minutes of hyper excitement.
My mother would never stay
back to watch the fireworks and rush back home after the procession, coz most of the times, our uncles would have
come over and so, she had to be there to be serving all the lovely dishes she
had prepared – appam, mutton stew, duck roast, cutlets….my ! I terribly miss
those days. And for me……i was definitely not leaving…or…well..i will put it
like this…either I stay back at church till the entire fireworks show was over and
reach back home very late …or make a dash to my house before the fireworks
began, run up the stairs to my terrace to be there, to watch the sky getting
lit. Either way, it was fine with me..as
long as I saw the colours bursting with a bang out of the darkness...
and it
made the girlie in me very very happy.
I had this lovely family friend of ours…she was atleast 10 years older to me…Jenny chechi (name slightly changed)..and my ! she was one lively fun-loving character. I loved being with her, she had an ever-ready smile and could crack instant wits out of nothing. She had a great sense of humour. And I personally, prefer to be in the company of such people…coz, they radiate their positiveness onto you as well.I could only remember myself to be always laughing whist she was around.
I get to meet her only during the church service. Even though we are in the same neighbourhood, we both moves to opposite sides of the church…so, it was customary that we stay there at the junction where we part ways and be chatting and giggling..at the same time. Be it “Way of the Cross” procession on Good Friday…the Christmas midnight mass…to watching the fireworks and shouting….yeaaahhhh….she was my church company.
I still cherish her deeply.
You are deeply missed…Jenny chechi. !!!
And now…coming to the present, is this new band gone
viral across social media-
Thaikkudam
Bridge.
A group of very young fresh talents taking the place by storm with the beautiful music, mostly the oldies with a new fresh touch. And the best part, it all started for them , packed ina room near the“Thykoodam Bridge” (which is right in front of my home)...where they used to meet and jam !
for the Keralites, this is one of the best from them (acoording to me, that is)
for the Indian audience...this is great !!! .."Haq-Allah.. !"
and on international audience..a fresh rendition of "The Beat it..."
Small world...indeed !!!
And..am I not pleasantly surprised, that i could dig apicture fromm googly of the foot of the Thykoodam Bridge and on the right hand side of this image, you see a 2 floor building in blue and red, and a mango tree just next it ??.
That's my dearest tree..my HOME !!! SWEET HOME !!! BACK HOME !!!
Proud of my homeplace “Thykoodam”..you
are rocking!!!!
"Doe..a deer...a femal deer.".. the TV to my back is singing. (love that movie !!!)
It's lunch time ongoing...very much ongoing...and my smallest can take ages to get his tiny portion of food move down from his mouth to his even slimmer tummy. Feeding the younger ones with my right..the left hand didn't have much to do...so, decided to be writing something down.
...................
You wind up a Friday with so many plans to do the next day, and top n line was to take the boys out to the park or nearby beach to be trying out the various settings of my new DSLR in bright daylight. That was for the plan for last saturday..and today as well....but...damn...all hopes in the drain...
My maid doesn't turn up...AGAIN !!!
well..she's being doing this for quite some time now....scooting jog on Saturday, when am having a day off. And, its the very day that I have so much to do at home...some major cooking, grinding batter for dosa/appam...whatever, for breakfasts the next days...in between the homework, regular sunday tests for our elder.... and this scenario made me really crap.
I was to pick Shayne back from his Maths Abacus class, so without the maid, had to grab the little ones too along with me. Missed the road to his classes, missed the second road too..and ended up going round the entire area getting back to track.
What a great start for a new day !
Wondered, if the badness of Friday, the 13th just reached Middle-East, a day late. Saturday, the 14th.....Humm.
On a positive note, the boys got an early morning ride straight from bed, in their sleep wear...teeths not brushed.hair not done.....either !
(think positively...think positiveeellyyy...that's all you can say to yourself anyways)
Back home..and beign a SAHM for about 3 years, i knew exactly well how my day was gonna be.
Prepare breakfast, feeding..cleaning..by then, it would be time to think abt lunch.
Prepare lunch, feeding, cleaning...
Kids nap time, and other miscellaneous .... browsing, facebook, blog...goes somewhere in between
Prepare dinner, feeding, cleaning.
And not to forget the laundry pile. I dont do laundry on fridays..so its 2 piles for saturday to wash, and the leftover pile from thursday to fold. I hate "this" part of the clothes, the most.
But...somewhere..things just didnt turn that bad as I thought. "Good ! I liked it !!!"
Listening to the "Pista song" from the moview NERAM while giving breakfast, was just like taking a full dose of an extra-active energizer drink.
It's soo full of energy...you are up .....
and ready to be ..on the go !!!!
A very good movie, from the perspective that its the directorial debut of Mr. Alphonse Putharen along with his friends whom he used to meet at a coffee shop in Aluva, Kerala...all with a passion and a dream to make a movie...some day !
..............
Alright ! get back to work ! ..its 11:00 am already.."What's For Lunch, Mommie"..would be the next question in about 2 hrs time. ooh..well.... :/
The rest of the day was just music..some soft, some bold, some nostalgic ..playing from my laptop on top of the kitchen counter, that I ended up making "fish-biriyani" for lunch !
One which particularly caught attention was the title name - Maula Mere Maula/Pink Floyd mix, and i was like...Oh my God ! This would be like combining vanilla milk shake with some kerala style spicy salmon-fry".
Hindi music fans knows where"maula mere maula" stands - its way up there ! one of the best songs ever.
And Pink Floyd - for english rockers and psychedelic musci lovers..this group is way up there as well !
And combining these two...? very bold indeed!
But, reading the full title...i went.."aah! so, its him. In that case, I am definitely not surprised. It was by "Bennet and the Band". In here, the transition between the two songs is so so soo smooth, just with the single note of a flute, that i literally had to go back to listen it once again.."when in the world did the lyrics change" ?
Have seen him once, perform live, and indeed was really amazed by the way he blends in extreme lines. After all..the Law says.."Unlike charges attract each other". His music blends keeps proving that.
Thats a picture i have of one of his performances here, live, with Naresh Iyer and Shweta Mohan and one of his bit was such a lovely blend of the old sound track for Titan watches with a hit-tamil number by illayaraja - Ada veetukku veetukku vaasappadi venoo..". It was excellent.
Some others which I ended up listening over and over...
"Ee solomonum...shoshannayum.." brings in that feel of the olden time tradional Christian household. Very solemn a song.
Iktara cover (wake up Sid)
...and so on....
Music Mojo does features some lovely collection, and got to admit, within no time, my Biriyani was ready...kitchen was cleaned..and...
...my graph plot of "crabbiness" vs "time" went down ..just like this.
I had this small stint
working for an architect..back home in India… as a free hand artist helping him
with the perspectives and renderings..and one of our projects was entirely
based on Buddhist architecture. He even went all the way upto Nepal to study on it, and once back..our entire office was adorned with artifacts of the region and Buddhist chants being played 24X7.
For a person whose speed of work was directly proportional to the tempo of the music…well…it did me no good. My paint brush would move in synchronization with the chants…VERY VERY SLOW….and could never finish my work on time.
But anyways..this one was different..and I likd it (I cud definitely not be listening to the whole half n hour of it without getting impatient..(I go for faster numbers ;)..and I am defintely not a buddhist. )
Just happened to come across this after over a decade, and definitely felt it very refreshing and soothing.
Om Mani Padme Hum – The Mantra of Compassion.
"The mantra Om Mani Päme Hum is easy to say yet quite powerful. Meaning of the 6 syllables :
Om - to help you achieve perfection in the practice of generosity,
Ma - helps perfect the practice of pure ethics
Ni - helps achieve perfection in the practice of tolerance and patience.
Pä- helps to achieve perfection of perseverance,
Me - helps achieve perfection in the practice of concentration
Hum -helps achieve perfection in the practice of wisdom.
"So in this way recitation of the mantra helps achieve perfection in the six practices from generosity to wisdom”.)
(Got no clue y i cant upload the video here ..the search says youtube video not found..while its very much in there. At times blogger is really wierd..so..sharing the links for the timebeing.)
..and..coming back to my interests in this region....personally for me, i really enjoyed working on that particular project, coz i like the architectural style there..especially the roof detailings..and the added colours which definitely brings in a mood of cheerfulness. Places which I am very keen on visiting at one point of time, in my life. (hope my husband sees this ;) )
well..there was a time when my entire world revolved around just one thing -
M U S I C.
Eat music..sleep music..study music .
We had and still have have at home this really old tape recorder that my father had brought while he was a teenager, prroudly saying that he was the first person to buy a music player then at his time, amongst his friends. A time when National and Panasonic was one single entity.
(just managed to find a picture from google exactly similar as what we still have at home. its an antique piece by now!)
The first thing i do entering my room once back from school was to on the tape - recorder and it could go on and on even while i fall sleep late at night. And...one of my all time favourites was this lovely slow number "WORDS"..by Boyzone. My brother was to hard rock while me was to these cute boybands - Boyzone, Westlife.....and girlbands too - Spice girls....so so.... which he used to mock as "baby-bands"."
I specifically liked that song coz that was a personal excuse kind for me, saying you have to be speaking and speaking to express yourself....you have to be soo full of WORDS. (for the big-mouthed girl that i was)..after all thats what the 5 handsome boys are singing.
It was my first year of Engineering and the time when you are extra-cautious, writing the first lab assignment..coz, you want your record book to be super neat..with absolutely no rub marks and in the best of your handwriting. One mistake, and i used to tear off the entire page and rewrite it all over again.
And again..it was the same song.."WORDS" by Boyzone that was being played and i was writing..believing that wow! my pages does look good.
But..got the record book back after correction and there was this big circle and question mark in red.
It was my civil lab record and the first chapter was familiarization of various lab equipments and tools and what did i write ????
TAPE : A tape is a measuring device which is used to take your heart away !!!!!!!
ooh noo !!!!
those who are familiar with the song will know exactly what has happened.
The tape in the book and the tape that was being played..just overlapped !!!
well..its better that at times, you just dont mix these two things together :)
She doesnt mix these two things anymore..she's all grown up (really !!!)..but certain things just wouldn't change. She still is a big mouth ;) .......... ................... ............................... ............... .......
think of all the "hours" of antics that Bollywood need to come up with...to express one single theme -
LOVE !
climb up and dance at the top most point of the cliff....
Up was released on May 29, 2009 and opened the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, becoming the first animated and 3D film to do so.[4] The film became a great financial success, accumulating over $731 million in its theatrical release. . The film received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, making it the second animated film in history to receive such a nomination, following Beauty and the Beast
well..its not the financial victory of the movie that i am highlighting..rather...how the entire essence of "living in love..till death do us apart" has been soo beautifully....sooo beautifully depicted...
in just about
4 MINUTES !!!
and that too....in
UNSPOKEN WORDS !!!
......from the random-toothed, pranky, tomboy little girl ..to the young pretty bride who is seen doing carpentry works right in her bride's dress...to the lovely caring old lady.....
.....from the timid shy little boy to the grumpy old man....
that's Carl and Ellie.
one of the best love stories - all in
JUST 4 WORDLESS MINUTES.
watch the link below - esp from 2-6 mins. Its just too good. At the later scenes, we can even feel the tears in his eyes. Very well depicted.
thats one gorgeous scene !!
But again…it’s a Hollywood number..you definitely can’t
challenge them. After a particular stage, the 78 year old grump Carl does what
even Rajnikanth wouldn’t consider giving a try – The tens of thousands of
balloons that lifted his entire house up and beyond the continent…is ..now
his backpack!!! From one point of
time…the balloons, his home, the big-fat little chap, are all tied to his shoulderswhile trecking through the wilderness ! Oh
well….alright..no questions asked.
Kadhayil chodhyam ella!!!
but..at the end of the day..i have just one question to myself...
